For business owners

Selling a business is personal. We know.

We were founders before we were buyers, and we treat a sale as the handover of something you care about.

Our approach

Not the stuff of Wall Street.

Running a company is hard: late nights, payroll and deadlines. Selling it should be as straightforward as we can make it.

Thornton Rock was founded by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs, as a way for owners of smaller businesses to hand their legacy to people who will look after it. Money matters, of course. But selling a business is a far more emotional process than most people expect, and we take the time to understand what matters to you, your team and your customers.

What we look for

Good brands with loyal customers.

We are most interested in established consumer businesses selling online, typically profitable and with revenue of £1m or more. If yours is close to that, we would still like to talk.

  • A recognised brand with a genuine place in its market
  • Loyal, repeat customers and consistent demand
  • Healthy gross margins and a profitable track record
  • Limited reliance on Amazon, eBay or other marketplaces
  • Products with a long shelf life rather than passing trends
How it works

From first call to handover.

A first conversation

An informal, confidential chat about your business and what you want from a sale.

Getting to know you

We look at the numbers, but we also spend time understanding the brand, the team and the customers.

A clear offer

Plain terms and proportionate due diligence, so you can keep running the business while we talk.

A careful handover

Our operations teams take on the day-to-day work, and we agree with you how involved you want to be afterwards.

Confidential

Tell us about your business.

No obligation. Just a conversation between owners.
